The Challenge – Following Your Heart
March 21, 2010The Challenge:
What are you doing now, or going to do, to follow your heart down a path without knowing the payoff? There are many things we do in which we don’t know the payoff or benefit before we begin. Instead, we trust that something valuable will reveal itself when the time is right. List these items and envision the possible benefits (financial, emotional, etc.) that you will gain along the path.
This task is worth 25-points on your scorecards.
Thought Provoking Questions:
How large was your list of “goodwill projects?”
What percent of your time will you commit to each project?
The Lesson:
Nearly all successful people at one point in their lives followed their heart down unknown paths that eventually benefited them greatly. Goodwill projects will turn into something valuable even if it’s nothing more than a learning experience, but you must remain committed and focused and be sure not to overload the number of projects you take on.
It can be easy to follow your heart on many goodwill projects because they don’t always require your full attention and people are often asking you to take on more. Prioritize these projects based on which appeal most to your life’s passion and don’t be afraid to turn away incoming requests if it doesn’t make it to the top of your priority list. Follow your heart and the path will reveal itself as you go along.
