The Challenge – Take the Leap

April 04, 2010

The Challenge:

What are you waiting for? We all have things that we place on-hold until something happens in the future, at which point, we tell ourselves we will take action. Often times we create delays for a variety of reasons; lack of confidence, being a perfectionist, we’re scared, etc. For this challenge you should write down all the things that you’re waiting to take action on, pick one and take action on it. Don’t worry about the potential outcomes…yet.

This task is worth 50-points on your scorecards.

Thought Provoking Questions:

For the item you chose to take action on, what was holding you back?

Now that you’re taking action, what is your biggest fear?

The Lesson:

The best thing we can do to overcome our fears is to just go for it. Take the leap and have trust in yourself that you will be able to build a parachute as you descend. This is how we grow and learn to adapt faster and with more confidence. When you find yourself listing all the reasons not to take action OR all things you need to get done first – ask yourself, are these truly things that MUST be done before taking action?

Once you take action, the real magic takes place as you work quickly to build your parachute. You will find yourself completely out of your comfort-zone and learning like you did when you were a child. Trust that you will be able to flourish in this fast-paced environment and you will achieve things far beyond your imagination.

“All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous, unpremeditated act without benefit of experience.” – Henry Miller
