Overcome Adversity – Achieving Dreams Takes Guts
June 13, 2010If you know where you want to go and how you want to get there, the next step is convincing yourself that you can achieve what you set your mind to achieve. You are your loudest critic, so you need to keep your emotions in-check. Here are a couple tips:
1) Remember a Time When You Overcame Adversity
Keep this handy at all times and when you’re feeling down or overwhelmed, remember this time from your past to remind yourself that you are capable of overcoming adversity. If you’re feeling creative, write this in story form or create a video (click here) that you can refer to frequently.
2) Stop Self-Sabotaging Yourself
Self-sabotage can start as a subtle little voice telling yourself “you can’t” but it can build to be as strong as a feeling of depression or worthlessness. Be conscious of what you tell yourself and allow yourself to progress towards your goals unhindered by your own self-sabotage.
In future posts we will talk about other ways to keep your emotions in-check. If you have a remarkable story about overcoming adversity, please share it with others so they can be inspired!
